There are not words that can describe the loss we feel as we begin to mourn our boy Jim. He was such a loyal boy who truly just wanted to be by our side. He wanted nothing other than to be loved by us. He came to us with a fearful and shaken soul that we weren’t sure we could mend. He left us with a gentle soul that showed so much love, comfort, happiness, and trust.
We know that the best years of his life were here with us. We protected him and he knew that we would always do what was best for him. We are happy that we could show Jim that being part of a family was something that he could enjoy and he no longer needed to be afraid.
Not a skilled racer, Jim excelled at food and the search for food. When confronted with a wayward squirrel or a discarded pretzel piece, the pretzel was his chosen goal. His chasing days were happily behind him. His internal clock could always be counted on to bring him to the kitchen on time (if not a tad bit early) for his next scheduled meal. He leaves behind his adopted sister, Abbie, who like us, seems lost without her brother leading the way.
We wish we had longer to say goodbye; we wish we did not have to say goodbye. We know in our hearts that we will meet him again and he will be without pain, fear, or sadness. Until that day, Jim, you will be with us in our hearts and we will miss you each moment for the rest of our lives here without you.
